Public Innovation to transform the government with people
The book (011).lab: public innovation to transform the government with people gathers in text and image the first three years of history of the Government Innovation Lab of São Paulo's City Hall, highlighting carried out projects, learned lessons and prospects for the future. The content was specially prepared to support the lab's knowledge management and to communicate to people and institutions the relevance of the work developed by the lab, requesting a design concept aligned with these goals to give it both physical and digital materiality.
The book was awarded a bronze medal for Editorial Design on Brasil Design Award 2021.
Concept
The care with the material aspect of the publication is essential in this project, betting on highlighting the innovative role of the laboratory within the city hall management structure. We've selected Pantones for each institutional colour looking for a vibrant 3x3 internal print. The acetate jacket relates to the transparent government-citizen relationship principle and unveils the open stitching spine that eases the book handling. The jacket flaps also serve as a pocket for the A3 poster found inside the publication inviting the reader to interact with its content. Fact sheets and project summaries were placed on small extra pages, and the lab's timeline unfolds in a 4-part flap that discloses each stage of the lab's evolution.
